Housing Law Conference 2025 header banner

This year’s Housing Law Conference will once again be held on a hybrid basis. This is a great opportunity for colleagues across the sector to meet both in person and virtually for hands-on training seminars, keynote speeches and the annual social event. The cost of attending the conference has been maintained at the same level since 2022 to encourage maximum participation.

The backdrop

The main theme of the conference is Innovation in the Housing Sector: New Age Solutions for Age Old Problems. Join us to explore how AI and technology are transforming responses to persistent housing challenges, and to consider key legal developments, including in the areas of rental reform, homelessness, discrimination and Legal Aid Agency issues. The conference will bring together legal aid professionals, academics and experts to explore ethical, innovative solutions for a more equitable housing future.

Participants will engage in informative seminars and panel discussions, including a new seminar format inviting topic suggestions ahead of the conference. The Closing Address will be given by Sir Geoffrey Vos, Master of the Rolls and Head of Social Justice.

The programme will also include the following speakers:

  • Liz Davies KC, Garden Court Chambers
  • Sophie Earnshaw, Shelter
  • Dr Andrew Iles, Consultant Psychiatrist and Expert Witness
  • Isabel Kaner, Policy and Campaigns Officer, Shared Health Foundation
  • Rachel Knowles, Director, UCL Centre for Access to Justice

  • Upskilling: Test case litigation and policy challenges
  • Hard cases and practice tips: Interactive session

The conference will also include a new interactive session, Hard cases and practice tips, which will provide an opportunity for attendees to identify tough issues that they see regularly in their practice. In advance of the conference, topics will be selected for discussion by experts and will provide a starting point for sharing of experience, expertise and practical tips on navigating hard cases.

The full programme for the conference will be available shortly.

The conference will be followed by a social event for conference delegates and HLPA members.
